i think so, but kicad is catching up with each release, but altium still wins in most categories though: - hierarchical design/multi channel - better annotation (signal harnesses, cross referencing, diff pairs, netclasses with rules) - library management (local DBs, cloud, mfg part search) - BOM generation (variants, alternates) - schematic ERC that actually catches mistakes rather than just spam annoying warnings (you do need to set it up properly though) i personally just find it to be more intuitive and smooth to use.

i couldn't leave things alone. svg_cruncher.exe started as a way to auto document specific netclasses for fab. verification when I was in a pinch. I didn't want to fiddle with a gui. the svg engine has be made generic to generate new views. The next one is a via/ drill view for automatically marking holes based upon rule sets. i.e. specific sizes to be epoxy filled/capped, etc. configuration is text based w/ a json file. (although a pure python config will be the end goal for uber awesome automation) now the target svg's are dynamically updated based upon unique id's in <g> tags. this way, you could add random stuff in inkscape or illustrator ( text, arrows, yoda heads etc) and svg cruncher can do the regen on any/all board artwork. next up is auto assembly drawings with component outines generated from projection of the 3d mesh / convex hull my target is is to be 50x faster than draftsman with 100% open file formats. then... toon/cell shaded renders of the arbitrary 3d models for cable / assembly instructions.
