Nice digging- if you haven’t already, yo u might consider bringing this to the attention of the PEC. As far as I can tell from Netfile, neither “Oakland Business Relief” or “Americans for Opportunity” are registered as committees in Oakland nor did they show in the IE list.

There is no open source EFILE or NETFILE certified software because the contract to acquire certification explicitly disallows it.

Ouch yeah, it is a pain now to log in online. Do you happen to have your previous NOA or NetFile Code? If so, you should be fine- however you will need it. I don't think you will get any penalty for late filing anyways if you do not owe CRA.

Funny, I owe for the first time in yrs. Decided to Netfile already but payment thru bank posted to April 30th. Immediately got mail from CRA about paying what's owed now, which I ignored. Maybe they are getting more vigilant?

Yes & no. I have been preparing Canadian Individual Income Tax Returns for non arms-length tax filers for years, since early 90s. I usually file paper form or online (NETFILE) early if tax refund expected. If there's tax payable, I wait closer to April 30th before sending to CRA.
