The names are always made up. @dhaliwas absolutely led an “inception” round in SI, and it was called “seed” then. Bill Bryant led Opscodes series A - because that’s what we called “seed” then, because there was no seed. Or pre seed. Or inception.
Another example why Inception Investing is not pre-seed or seed - proof points?
True Inception rounds all about engaging w/founders well b4 they incorporate
leading rds at company formation. There is no product. No customers. No traction. It’s the founders opportunity.
Founders, I know super confusing - not all pre-seed seed do true inception investing despite round names many multi-stage firms also Inception invest
We need to get new list of folks who do this to make it clearer, who lead these rounds on people opportunity
