The day I became one of you. 🇺🇸
After more than 11 years in America, I finally became a U.S. citizen. It happened in downtown San Antonio, in the middle of moving houses and during one of the harder seasons of my life.
Still one of the happiest days I’ve had, outside of watching my son smile at me for the first time.
I didn’t come here planning to become a citizen. I came from Australia and slowly built a life here, friends, community, raising my son, learning peewee baseball instead of peewee cricket.
The immigration process is years of paperwork and waiting. Holding that certificate felt like the payoff.
Now every time I return from a trip overseas and hear the words “welcome home,” it means something deeper.
And when you love something, you want to protect it.
That’s part of why I built One Bison- to make it easier to support businesses that share the values that make this country worth protecting.
