In this hour of existential threat when Israel has brazenly declared that Iran today means Pakistan tomorrow ,Pakistan cannot afford the luxury of self-inflicted wounds.
To those peddling sectarian innuendo against Mir Muhammad Ali Khan, a man whose Wall Street institution stands as the singular Pakistani-Muslim achievement in global finance, I say this with the clarity history demands: your conspiracy theories are not patriotism. They are the cheap currency of personal grievance masquerading as principle. Pakistan was not forged in the fires of Shia-Sunni division. Its very idea was the triumph over it. Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founding father who carved a sovereign homeland from the map of empire, was Shia.
Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the philosopher-poet whose soaring vision first dreamed Pakistan into existence, was Sunni.
One man gave us the state; the other gave us its soul. Together they proved that the only identity that matters is Pakistani. To weaponise sect against any son of this soil especially one who has elevated Pakistan’s name where it matters most is not analysis. It is intellectual adolescence dressed in the borrowed robes of zealotry. It serves neither faith, nor flag, nor future. Mir Muhammad Ali Khan has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Iran not out of sectarian loyalty, but out of the same realist instinct that every clear-eyed Pakistani shares: when the neighbourhood is on fire, you do not bicker over the colour of the hose. Let us bury this childish impulse once and for all. Pakistan’s enemies are not within our mosques. They are at our gates. The Quaid and Iqbal did not build this nation so that lesser men could dismantle it with tweets. Unity is not optional. It is the last line of defence.
