Had a cool moment this week. A former PWC partner and chair of the South West Investment Group (whom we just got investment loan from) contacted us to become a Non-Executive Director.
Have scheduled a meeting for a couple of weeks time, but that was a āniceā vote of confidence.
In addition to that, someone at the Installer Show (Heat Pump specialist wholesaler) offered to buy into my business. There is some genuine synergy and overlap between us. Whilst I wonāt rush to give away equity, itās another positive development.
Had an initial discussion with
@BitcoinColl which got me a bit further forwards with what we need to do to start accepting and trading with BTC. The idea of being a Renewables Treasury is tantalising. Still not sure I could do it but there is a start towards at least making it a relevant part of my business.
Our rebrand discussions have really nailed down on the name and the āmissionā behind the name. My whole ethos on Renewables is, and has always been, taking back control of oneās Energy and therefore destiny. Iāve realised this is the same as BTC insofar as currency/money is concerned and also AI, which gives ordinary folk the opportunity to not work for corporates and can truly do something for themselves at scale. All of these are key in our future business developments and Iām leaning into that massively. Kudos to
@trevgoes4th whom has helped a lot in regards to the AI stuff.
The 21st Century playbook is asset/people lite, and itās very early still as I feel shit scared doing it as all my peers are running on the 20th Century playbook (asset heavy: lots of buildings, vehicles, and people) and as such are getting further ahead of us.
We contracted a digital agency that specialises in industrial product companies PPC/SEO stuff. We need help on this as we generate so many leads and enquiries but the conversions (around 25%) Iād like to move nearer 2/3rds as that is historically my benchmark as a salesman. Lead curation needs to improve to get to 66% also a rebrand is a shit tonne of work. We made a list of whatās involved and itās too much for a lean 4 person team. My goodness is it exciting, though.
Iāve also signed up formally to be hosted on the OpenSolar platform. Weāve done this as itās the UKs largest design tool and has approximately 25,000 designs per month on their service. Reducing our Salespeople on the road (which was essential) means we need to work productively and having designs at the top of the funnel, drop into the CRM without rep involvement. I believe in a Human centric business and will reinvest in Salespeople but having them on the road without design software was putting the cart before the horse.
I outsourced an AI project to some geeks Iāve known centred around leads and conversions (Iāve got 3 bets here, if youāre still reading and paying attention š) Iāve given them the logic for how I prospect and weāve coached LLM to basically do what Clay AI does, which is scrape the database in our niche by learning from our data what an ideal customer is, and then find those customers and create a CRM-esque entry for the lead, with a customer biography and suggested tactics that will lead to conversion based on how the prospect has interacted with our business up to now. Iām very excited about this product weāre building.
Lastly I formally signed a contract with DX group to move our 3PL from SW to them. I will do a big post on this stuff because itās been a nightmare. DX have however super impressed me: same day service anywhere in the UK, every delivery on a dedicated truck pre 10:30, and the clincher was their software: itās the same brand as our ERP and CRM. What this means is our business is going to become among the most Frictionless to deal with on the front end (OpenSolar) and also on the back end once the order is confirmed. Itās been HELL to get here, but I really think it will be an amazing service offering.
Not as exciting as
$SWC updates, but itās just as busy!!
