A1). To me an engaged classroom is a loud classroom. Not meaning out of control. But when my admin walks in, I want them to hear noise. Math is about talking through the answer and how they got to it. A quiet math room is an unengaged one. #OregonMathChat

Yes, it is nice knowing I am not alone and that we are all trying to improve our practice. I will let you know what I try with Technology this year. :) #OregonMathChat Thanks for the support and ideas!

Thank you for hosting. It's always good to hear what is happening in other places and the successes and the struggles to engage students in mathematics and learning. I would love to hear how you integrated the Technology once you find a way to do that. #OregonMathChat

Q5 There are many students at my school who want to go into the trades vs. college. I would love the opportunity to make math more hands-on for them, but lack the experience myself. Any ideas for resources? #OregonMathChat

A5) That is something I am working on. Trying to create math questions that embed different cultures - whether it's settings, experiences, names, or events. It's hard for students to problem solve when they don't have the background knowledge. #OregonMathChat

A4 On task students. You can tell when they're engaged. It's like joy or something magical happened to the drudgery of what they think math is... #OregonMathChat

I was thinking that also! I find that it works better with smaller classes. I recently tried an activity with whiteboards and it turned into a management nightmare with my largest freshmen Algebra class. #OregonMathChat

A2 I know it sounds silly, especially from a 1:1 school, whiteboards! Ss love them. They are willing to TRY math. And that's a huge step. #OregonMathChat
