Pakistan’s young scientific talent made history by winning two gold medals and one silver medal at the prestigious Asian Science Camp 2025 held in Thailand.
An 8-member Pakistani team participated in the event, competing against 50 international teams. The selection was made after a rigorous nationwide test and interview process, with the team led by Pakistan Science Foundation Officer Rehana Batool.
Ali Afzal Muhammad from Khyber Medical College Peshawar won a Gold Medal in Innovation & Technology for inventing a Sleep Pod, capable of providing the comfort of 10 hours of rest in just 2 hours.
Malik Shahabuddin Syed from Bolan Medical College secured another Gold Medal in Sustainability for presenting three effective solutions to protect marine life.
Hasher Ishaq from NUST University earned a Silver Medal for designing a microchip that activates the immune system to destroy viruses upon entering the body.
Additionally, Ahmed Fasih from Shalamar Medical College Lahore received an Honorary Mention in Innovation & Technology.
In the first stage, the top 10 projects were selected out of 50, followed by a final round to decide gold and silver medals. This marks Pakistan’s biggest achievement ever in an international science competition.
The six-day camp also featured lectures by world-renowned scientists and Nobel laureates.
