After Charlie's murder, and this deranged would-be assassin nominally associated with a (?) 'Wide Awake' group (alleged,) ADD the recent pronouncements from Rubio and Gorsuch, the 'ole PATREC is fired up
You see, among the finer American, and Republican traditions is wariness of Foreign Influence.
Washington warned of it in his letters and Farewell Address. Others too. Lincoln was all too aware of it. You see, unlike the Eastern Establishment (of which Californian, Nixon, was not part of, and wary of, too) coastal attorneys, Abraham Lincoln, a self-educated country lawyer, understood something about our country: It's delicate to maintain a Republic. It has no 'anchoring personality' like a monarch. No central institution like a State Church.
(It does have, curiously, a Central Bank 😂 - telling from a policy standpoint, perhaps?!?)
While Lincoln vouchsafed retroactively-designated 'Declarationism,' he WASN'T ALIVE to define its terms, any better than he did in life. And what he did in life, has been disregarded, underplayed, soft-peddled and distorted. Lincoln was NOT a Propositionalist. That would be to IDEOLOGIZE his observation. And turn it absurdly into something he never intended.
His soaring rhetoric, following on from that of the Declaration itself, was not to be taken as sufficient for law and policy. Anymore than the Preamble/Summary to legislation is necessary and sufficient to read it right. It was a sentimental sense and it was a very, very right one. All of it. I love Abraham Lincoln.
I digress. He understood that you have to protect the National Spirit of a Republic. Not just its outward form. Not just the technical letters of its laws. That's why the CEO of the US is charged with Faithful Execution of both Office AND Laws. That faith is protecting the spirit of The Thing (the American Moot- Res Republica; our
#Althing) - not just its expressed form- which is the Government, but in our National Character.
Yes, that means blood and soil. Not the European version. Theirs was a little ignorant. Not well done, aside from which. It's a valid principle independent, before, after, and around that. Won't allow my view to be clouded by extraneous example-making!
At the moment, that's looking a little shaky to my studied, multi-generational, doubly-veteran grandfather'd, Historic American eyes. Not just historic though; True Contemporary!
Perhaps it is time to move beyond MERE HISTORIES

The Living Nation belongs to have its say, too! Not just the instrumentalities of governance and academics within and without of government!
Now, I'm clear-eyed enough to understand this can go more than one way as a... proposition. And the national character is very diluted at this point in time.
The question is, does this Government belong to its people, or any people, anymore? Does the commonplace foreignness we see in our own lands, in our own communities, constitute the de facto dissolution of the Spirit of the Republic, before, and perhaps carrying through to the formal body of the republic itself?
Is Force and Mythos, - an Militant, untethered Mythocracy a genuine expression of Our People, or any people, for that matter? Can Government Long Endure without core guiding identity or ideals shared by broad parts of the population, both of which seem to have slid in the last 50 years?
I suspect not.
The question may not only be one of numbers or notions, but also of willingness AND ABILITY to claim the ideals and vestments of institutional authority that have so effectively since the 90's (I've seen) been moved away from the hands of everyday people. Away from Organicists - Political Organicists, I don't know who these 'Originalists,' are, given Gorsuch's remarks.
Originally self-deluding parties, mis-readers, and -speakers on our nations' origin and history. Perhaps. For one thing! Hardly original, that!
TO THAT END, and because we all need a little reminder of history from time to time, I present you with the Wikipedia (lol) article on the Wide Awakes, an 1860's QUITE REPUBLICAN movement, that features, oh wouldja lookie dah
Tiki (not branded,) - ok- just regular torchlight parades. For one thing. This is the before the postwar retcon forced (false) contextualization of the phenomenon as some singular, historically isolated, monolithic, disrespectable and dangerous foreign adversarial tradition.
It in point of fact was not. It has a history and home in the US at least that far back! Wide Awakes were among Lincoln's staunchest supporters, come to find, as well.
I'm not telling most of you anything you don't know. I am, however, telling you so that you know I know. And I am not 'Dead Asleep' in this context.

Share as appropriate. I notice the College Republican groups are rather disappointed with Gorsuch rn, and why wouldn't they be!? They feel as though their country is being taken from them! Are they wrong? Isn't it? From us all?
Rhetorical, but not entirely rhetorical questions.
And yes I wrote this longkeyboardfingered myself I would never think of GPTing something this important
From memory and reckoning, too. I need no instructor. I am a self-educated man; like Lincoln before me.
Don't let my focus on arts and entertainment fool you- I'd rather focus on that, but this is far from beneath my interest or outside my purview personally and civically. I will attend this matter, and pay heed to these issues if I feel they aren't being handled well.
If any of you tagged have any questions or comments for me based on what I've said, or outside of that, I am for you an open book and happy to respond.
Note: I'm not only a student of history and Constitutional Law. I just refrained from publishing meaningfully up to now. I think that's a good thing! You all may hear from me now, though. I want to let you know, you are the first to be invited to my Substack I've just created.
