I understand some folks feel we should not help people.... but those same people who say that... are actually people. If they were in danger, they would want help too. Without people, no animals are saved. We should always help each other. As a woman.... I can't even imagine having to flee my home to avoid being forced in to marriage, hidden from society and being denied the right to work or get an education. As an animal welfare advocate, I can't imagine that because I'm a woman, I can no longer help animals. As an American, the fact that these people are at risk because they worked with Americans is so incredibly tragic. There are children. These are future rescuers, doctors, & teachers. I have a building full of abused animals who rely on Paws Unite People for support. I have a community the shelter is in that relies on our outreach. I have people that rely on our service animals. I have 200 plus humans, mostly women and children, who without us could die. And this adorable angel... who just says thank you, is why I try. The cats from neglect cases that nobody would take in, are why I try. The dogs that were getting euthanized if we did not take them, are why I try. Please. I can't do this alone. We all are struggling. But.... If 500 people skipped a cup of coffee from Starbucks today, we could keep every life we help safe. I'm tired, mentally and physically... BUT a can't take a break if it means lives are in danger. I appreciate everyone's help so far. Those who understand what we are trying to do have been restoring my faith in humanity every day.
