Stop Overthrowing Before Games: Here’s What to Do Instead
One of the biggest mistakes I see pitchers make is overthrowing before a game. They think they need to throw a ton just to “get loose.” But here’s the truth:
You don’t need more throws—you need better prep.

✅ The Smarter Way to Warm Up:
1️⃣ Start with a Dynamic Warmup
•Use multi-directional movements to activate your joints
•Open up mobility in your hips, spine, and shoulders
•Get your blood flowing and CNS firing before you ever pick up a ball
2️⃣ Follow with Movement-Specific Drills
•Grab a med ball or baseball
•Hit key movements like separation throws, trunk activation drills, and linear/lateral progressions
•Reinforce your elite pitching mechanics before game time
3️⃣ Minimal Throwing, Maximum Results
•Once your body is activated and primed, you’ll find you only need a few quality throws to be game ready
•That means more bullets for the game and less wear and tear on your arm
⸻
Work smarter, not harder.
Train the body, not just the arm. You’ll be more explosive, more consistent, and way healthier over the long haul.
