Last week in Nassau, The Bahamas, @DamieSinanan, Executive Director of Caribbean Export, participated in the @CaribbeanDevelopmentBank Impact Room during the CDB’s 56th Annual Meeting. Dr. Sinanan joined the fireside chat, “What’s Holding Caribbean Exports Back? Fixing Trade, Standards and Digital Systems to Unlock Value Chains,” where the discussion focused on practical ways to improve trade across the region, strengthen standards, and advance digital systems that can help Caribbean businesses grow. Dr. Sinanan was encouraged by the tone of the discussions, particularly the strong focus on the private sector and the critical role it plays in Caribbean development. The panel explored practical solutions to strengthen trade, improve standards, advance digital systems, and better position Caribbean MSMEs to participate in regional and global value chains. A clear takeaway from the session was the importance of collaboration among development partners to deliver meaningful support to the region’s private sector. While at the event, Dr. Sinanan also advanced discussions with several partners on potential interventions to support Caribbean businesses. We look forward to sharing more in 2026! #CaribbeanExport #CDBAnnualMeeting #ImpactRoom #PrivateSectorDevelopment #RegionalTrade #CaribbeanDevelopment #Trade #MSMEs #Partnerships

The Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC, yesterday, May 13th, 2026, paid a strategic courtesy visit to FSDH Merchant Bank as part of ongoing stakeholder engagements aimed at strengthening partnerships that drive trade, investment, and private sector development between Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and global markets. The Chamber’s delegation, led by its President & Chairman of Council – Prince Abimbola Olashore, was received by Bukola Smith, FCA – MD/CEO; Stella-Marie Omogbai – Executive Director; and Emenike Ezenduka – Head, Business Banking. [SPONSORED] Balanced development requires strong public institutions and a dynamic private sector. As at the end of September 2025, the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) has committed USD 5.07 billion across 326 projects, supporting transformative initiatives throughout the ECOWAS region. Of this total, USD 2.67 billion (52.67%) has been directed to the private sector, reinforcing EBID’s commitment to entrepreneurship, investment, and job creation, while USD 2.40 billion (47.33%) continues to strengthen public-sector projects that underpin economic stability and social development. This balanced approach reflects EBID’s core mandate: to finance inclusive growth, foster regional integration, and deliver lasting economic and social impact across West Africa.
