She could have won. Trump was as much a covid incumbent as Democrats. She simply didn't pull the antiwar/prolabor lever. Everyone asked her to but she ignored it.

The last 25 years I have been hearing countless opinions from neoliberals claiming with absolute confidence that they MUST go more right to win voters that hate them, rather than just be slightly prolabor. I wonder what conflict of interest would make them so antiprogressive...

no he was -bad- at standing against imperialism but that’s mostly because he was super noncharismatic. but the only things he was known for were his prolabor record and his antiimperialist stance (which was the standard dem position at the time)

Centrists want to claim Biden was unpopular because of cultural liberalism or his prolabor economic policy but the truth is politics is reality tv in the modern information environment is only as effective as its messenger and even today haven’t found slick communicator frontmen

I mean, I believe the government SHOULD fight for the working class...unfortunately our government is owned by businesses. As long as lobbying is a thing, they will never be prolabor and we will always be the exploited class in America.

as a journalist it'd be helpful for people to say what they mean this cycle when they say "center" or "moderate" - depending on the issue/person that can be positively or negatively coded for voters/consumers/workers moderating on prolabor or IDpolitics or taxation? guns? dereg?

“in fact, if fascism means anything, it means the all-out government support for business and severe repression of antibusiness, prolabor forces.” -michael parenti in “blackshirts and reds”
Trump just did a mass firing at the CFPB, basically taking a wrecking ball to the anti-scam police. It’s one of the best government agencies in America, it returned $19B to defrauded Americans.

I’m surprised that Disney approved the episode after the writer’s strike last year being so taxing on everyone and the episode having such a prolabor message which is unusual for big corporations to support, but I agree it was wonderfully funny and poignant.

@CityAndStateNY it seems like you have been doing backbends and contortions since 2021 to avoid mentioning the injustices and mass workforce terminations in #NYC inflicted on the thousands of #unvaccinated workers still being harmed by @nycmayor over the vaccine mandate. You have repeatedly ignored this ongoing labor rights story despite invites to rallies, invites to report on @NYCCouncil hearings where workers, including workers made homeless by these firings and workers who have seen our retirement savings evaporate, talk about our terminations, and despite sharing of documents w/ you. Now here you are erasing @jimfornyc position on rehiring all workers terminated over Covid shot from this piece that profiles mayoral candidates. His position on reinstatement and backpay is a significant part of his platform and makes him more prolabor than the rest, yet City and State NY says nothing about it. As a reader, and as one of these workers, I'd like to know: what gives? @NYCCCommonSense @NYCCHR @nypost @naomirwolf @TheDemocrats @GOP @SusanBEdelman @P_McCulloughMD Here’s who’s running for New York City mayor in 2025 cityandstateny.com/politics/… via @CityAndStateNY
