I think MLS is in a lot of trouble and I think MLS knows it too. I used to think it would take promotion and relegation and a few years for USL to surpass MLS, but even the announcement of pro rel has put USL in a higher standing than MLS #ProRelForUS

Sure. Pay to play is not ruining youth soccer. Millions benefit. It's a business catering to a market willing to pay for the product. Soccer (like piano lessons) is not an inalienable right. Free soccer costs money. Someone has to pay. So who will pay for all this free soccer?

It's too bad more MLS fans/media don't ask themselves why the energy, effort, intensity, pressure, stakes that's on display during these playoff games doesn't remotely happen during 30 matches of the season.
This level and emotion happens *every single week* overseas.

Any American so called soccer fan who is against relegation #ProRelforUS should watch #EveChe #Everton vs #Chelsea, observe emotions on and off the pitch and then compare to random mid table MLS bullshit, where these games mean nothing, other than taking selfies at the stadium.

And second, are you familiar with the story of my home club, @DetroitCityFC? If we had #ProRelForUS, then there would be even more interest here in the club to see if we could make it all the way up to the top flight.

Still he is our shinning light, even years later as he opened the doors to Pulisic, McKennie, Reyna...to develop in Bundesliga and ultimately help USMNT regardless of awfulness of MLS without #ProRelforUS and pay to play system we currently have. I ll take Jurgen any day.
