Great post! ProjectConnect has become nothing more than a boondoggle and gravy train for a bunch of ‘new urbanist’ grifters. Actually, it began that way and it’s gotten worse. Cancel it @austintexasgov!!

👉 5 years after approving ProjectConnect, Austin voters still don't have light rail. Since then, the project has been significantly scaled back, yet the cost remains the same 🚌 Several rapid bus lines included in the plan have been delayed. Also, @CapMetroATX is dangerous!

Today the @CapMetroATX Board approved two interlocal agreements with @ATP_org to help advance #ProjectConnect. Thanks to the ATP team for the collaboration & to the ATP Board for approving them last week. More improvements on Rapid 800 & 837 are just ahead! 

For a fraction of the money Austin is laundering through @ATP_org for the ProjectConnect rail boondoggle, we could have a robust, adaptable rapid bus transit network with enough security to keep it safe. Why are naive “urbanists” obsessed with 19th century fixed rail transit?

This morning we celebrated the completion of a major infrastructure improvement alongside @austintexasgov & @austinmobility. The #CapMetro Rapid stops at the Manor & 51st intersection are a cornerstone of our system expansion through #ProjectConnect, and will help better connect the growing East Austin communities to our larger transit network. It's important that improvements support all types of travel, not just public transit. Working with our partners at the City, we saw an opportunity to create a safer intersection for walking, biking and driving, and we're so excited to see this vision come to life!
