Yes, this is what we do for a living! Amazing day out! That chick just melted my heart! A lot of work ahead still but every chick at this stage is a little victory! (It had a massive poo on me 😂💩, also part of my job description) #ProjectPeewit #lapwing #vanellus #avefria
A busy day for the #ProjectPeewit team monitoring some of our core Lapwing sites. We have birds at all stages of breeding from incubating eggs all the way to young almost ready to fledge. We also visited a new site and were able to ring another chick

Lapwing dad: I do not care how much you try Aurora, I will not let you see my babies. 2 minutes layer, baby lapwing running in front of its dad. Lapwing dad: damn child! #projectpeewit

Another successful day at #projectpeewit. This farmer needed to know the location of the nest. Took me a couple minutes to find it. The bird was back on it in less than 3 minutes. Nest found, nest protected. Thank you to all the farmers out there doing so much for wildlife 🙏

You are so right, unfortunately James. We are, from #ProjectPeewit trying to understand the remaining population in #Wiltshire and work with farmers to protect them! More info here: wsbrc.org/projects/project-p… & wiltshirewildlife.org/news/m…

Spot the Lapwing chicks! 👀 Believe it or not, there are chicks in this photo taken by @jonny_goes_wild for #ProjectPeewit. Their camouflage is amazing! How many can you see? Answer will be revealed later today! Read more about Project Peewit: wsbrc.org/projects/project-p…

I haven't posted about this cos I'm awful at social media. But I'm proud to say that an idea I've had for a few years now is finally happening. #ProjectPeewit is go go go. If you see a Lapwing in Wiltshire in the next few months please let us know. tinyurl.com/Projectpeewit
