For nearly five years, ACE has been consistent in our concerns, steady in our solutions, and unwavering in our calls for accountability to children and families as CWELCC has rolled out across Canada.
When ACE was founded by a small group of childcare operators in Alberta, we made a commitment to bring the realities of the front lines into the national conversation. As a grassroots, membership-driven association—not government funded—we often raised issues that did not align with the headlines, the prevailing narratives, or the positions of larger activist organizations. Yet our focus never changed: affordable childcare, meaningful accessibility, sustainable operations, and quality experiences for children.
Over the past few weeks, Canadians have seen report after report highlighting the challenges of $10-a-day daycare, the growing accessibility crisis facing families, and the unintended consequences of policy decisions made over the last five years. While these stories reflect very real challenges, they also represent something important: honest conversations are finally happening.
Parents are speaking up. Communities are recognizing the cracks in the system. Policymakers and the public are beginning to acknowledge what providers and families have been experiencing for years—that affordability without accessibility is not enough.
This is not a moment for "I told you so." It is a moment for solutions.
It is a moment for honest dialogue among all stakeholders, for evidence-informed policy, and for putting children—not politics, ideology, or headlines—at the heart of what comes next.
Today, ACE proudly represents operators of ALL models across ALL provinces and territories. Our growth reflects the shared belief that Canada needs a childcare system that works for families, respects providers, and prioritizes quality for children.
The conversation is changing. The challenges are being recognized. Now the real work begins.
If you believe childcare policy should be shaped by the voices of families, providers, and communities—not politics alone—we invite you to join us. Become part of the ACE community and help champion a childcare system that is accessible, sustainable, and focused on what matters most: children.
