So proud of former #QuaveLab@FulbrightPrgrm fellow @fab_ethnopharm (Dr. Fabien Schultz) on his team's exciting new publication concerning self-medication behaviors in chimpanzees 🐵🌿⚕️
Note that the study included #herbarium specimens to document which species are used by chimps, which were then also subjected to chemical & pharmacological analyses 🙌

Days in the field are long ones! After collecting herbarium, DNA, and bulk specimens (for chemical analysis) in the field, the samples have to be processed (sorted, chopped, and set out to air dry). There have been many long nights of work until 2-3 AM finishing up the process this week. Next trip, I definitely need my army of students along to help 😄 #expedition#sardinia#ethnobotany#plants#QuaveLab@EmoryHerbarium
What a fun afternoon!! My 🧠 was definitely tired after delivering an hour long scientific lecture and 30 minutes of engaging Q&A in Italian—but I loved the opportunity to share @EmoryUniversity#QuaveLab research with this amazing group of scholars and students at Univ. Sassari!
I’m so excited to build new collaborations with the talented scientists here 🙌🙌

Huge congratulations to @emorycollege senior Ben Kittleson on a successful defense of his honors thesis in #biology!! Ben earned Highest Honors for his body of work on bioactive small molecules for Cutibacterium acnes. His next step is to prepare a paper for publication. All of us in #QuaveLab are super proud of you, Ben!
The #QuaveLab has a new paper out in the journal, Urogynecology. We examined E. coli isolates from 40 post-menopausal UTI patients for persister cells. We also tested different 1st-line abx for their capacity to generate more persisters. Check out today's newsletter for more info on the paper. #AMR#antibiotics#UTI#infections
Such a fun visit to McMaster University today! Loved sharing work from #QuaveLab and learning about the incredible research on #antibiotic#DrugDiscovery at the David Braley Centre for Antibiotic Discovery 💡
Thanks Dr. Eric Brown for the seminar invite!
Today we celebrated the life of Yinxin "Jimmy" Xu. Jimmy was an outstanding young scientist. He graduated from @emorycollege in 2019 w/ honors in chemistry from research in #QuaveLab. He was completing a PhD at @UK_COP w/ Prof. Jon Thorson lab. RIP Jimmy. You are deeply missed 💕
Congratulations to Cassandra Quave, PhD (@QuaveEthnobot) on her election to @AcadofInventors as a 2023 Fellow! As a leader in in the field of ethnobotany and dermatology, she is a wonderful recipient for this honor. buff.ly/41n95aC@EmoryUniversity
Back in #ATL this eve & just wrapped a great shoot with @smallrfilm in #QuaveLab@EmoryUniversity! I’m excited to contribute to this exciting film project on microbes & innovation! 🔬⚕️🧪
Congrats to @EmoryMsp#QuaveLab@thejonesctr PhD candidate @PlantChemistry on the very cool coverage of this latest pub🥳
Resistance to anti-fungal drugs is an emerging threat in healthcare. It's exciting to see how discoveries like this one could pave the way to new meds! #AMR
🌱 #News: A new @EmoryUniversity study finds that a natural compound found in many plants inhibits the growth of drug-resistant Candida fungi — including its most virulent species, Candida auris, an emerging global health threat. @QuaveEthnobotbit.ly/45PcPmy
Glad to have made it to #ASP2023 this year and reconnect/meet so many amazing people! Also cool to see so much interest in our 3D- Printer based Large Scale HPLC Fraction Collector!
