Walton County Fire Rescue responded to a camper fire in Redbay Tuesday night following a 911 call from one of the residents.
At 8:39 p.m. on February 24, 2026, the Walton County Sheriff's Office, communications center received a call from a resident stating their camper was on fire. Walton County Fire Rescue crews arrived on scene to find the camper fully involved and immediately began fire suppression efforts. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in less than ten minutes. Volunteers from Argyle also responded to assist on scene.
Fortunately, all occupants made it out of the camper safely, and no injuries were reported. The American Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance to the family who were displaced from their residence.
The fire was determined to have been caused by an issue involving a heating source.
Fire Chief Austin Pugh reminds residents to use caution when operating any heating sources, especially in confined spaces. Please make sure all heating elements are properly connected and functioning correctly.
