From the Streets to Advocacy
I came from the streets, wearing that red rag, living by a code that defined me. Back then, I didn’t realize that the battles I fought weren’t just against others. They were against myself. The pain, the trauma, the addictions, I numbed it the only way I knew how. But the streets don’t offer healing. They don’t teach you how to deal with the weight you carry.
Now, I stand on the other side, not ashamed of where I’ve been or where I come from, but determined to help others find a way out. I know what it’s like to feel trapped in a cycle, to believe there’s no other way. I also know that change is possible. That redemption is real. That the past does not have to define the future.
That’s why I advocate for mental health, for addiction recovery, for ex-gang members who feel like they have no way out. Because I’ve been there. And I’m living proof that there is another way.
To anyone still in the struggle, you are not alone. Your pain is real, but so is the hope for something better. And if no one has told you yet, let me be the first: You are worth saving.
