🥽Case Separation/Failure🥽
The stress and pressure a case endures during firing are immense, reaching tens of thousands of psi with each trigger pull. The case expands slightly each time and is then resized to specifications for reloading. This repeated expansion and contraction weakens the brass, eventually causing cracks or wrinkles near the case head.
The photo shows a 25-06 Hornady case that has been reloaded several times and you can see that an actual crack had formed and gases were able to escape.
