🆘 “It’s My Right to Have Help” But
@GlasgowCC City Council Says: It’s the System We Have to Work By.”🆘
This is the lived experience of people forced to sleep rough or navigate temporary accommodation in Glasgow.
This comic strip inspired by real encounters at our night shelter exposes the systemic barriers and indifference shown to vulnerable people who are simply asking for help.
💬 “You must use a phone for 40 minutes…”
💬 “Homeless Project Scotland isn’t allowed to help…”
💬 “This is the out-of-hours manager’s rules.”
💬 “I just want support, it’s my right to have help.“
💬 “It’s the system we have to work by. It’s management’s instructions.”
📵 No compassion.
❌ No flexibility.
🚫 No recognition of basic human rights.
People in deep crisis those struggling with mental health, trauma, addiction, language barriers, or no phone access are being abandoned by a system that refuses to speak to anyone on their behalf, even when they give written consent.
Instead of partnership, the response is policy. Instead of care, the response is cold procedure.
We are here to support, not to be ignored.
✊ We will keep fighting for dignity, justice, and real support for the most vulnerable.
