The 67th Executive Committee meeting of NMCG marked a major leap toward science-led river rejuvenation.
Chaired by DG Shri Rajeev Kumar Mital, the meeting saw participation from senior officials including Shri Gaurav Masaldan (JS & FA, DoWR), Shri Nalin Srivastava (DDG, NMCG), Shri Anup Kumar Srivastava (ED–Technical), Shri S.P. Vashisth (ED–Admin), Shri Brijendra Swaroop (ED–Projects), Shri Bhaskar Dasgupta (ED–Finance), Shri Prabhash Kumar (Project Director, UP SMCG), Ms. Nandini Ghosh (Project Director, WB SPMG), and other senior officers from NMCG and participating states.
The EC approved major scientific and infrastructure interventions to strengthen river management and pollution abatement across the Ganga Basin:
1. Research & River Science
- Monitoring of key Himalayan Ganga headstream glaciers
- Study on glacier melt–runoff changes in the Upper Ganga Basin
- 1,100 km SONAR bathymetric survey from Bijnor to Ballia to support sediment and flow modelling
- Digital Twin & Water Cycle Atlas for real-time, AI-enabled river basin management
- Managed Aquifer Recharge along paleochannels in the Ganga–Yamuna Doab
- Digitization and geospatial database of historic Ganga basin maps (pre-1900 to 1950 )
