Without the Kurds, the United States would never have achieved its victories in either Rojava or Bashur. I think you can see the difficulties the Trump administration is facing in Iran now, right?
If Trump had treated the Kurds in Rojava differently and had not abandoned them, he could have achieved a major success in Iran and would have had strong allies in Iranian Kurdistan. Instead, he chose to listen to Turkey and the UK, and here we are today.
Now even Ahmed al-Sharaa (Al-Golani) is unwilling to join the war against Hezbollah. He came to power after the events and agreements that followed January 6, and after that, the United States left the Kurds in Rojava on their own.
Who advised Al-Golani not to enter the war that was being planned? In my opinion, Turkey and the UK played a major role.
So yes, a significant effort is needed to rebuild trust between the Kurds and the United States. As long as Trump remains in power, I do not believe that will happen.
And thanks to Israel for stepping in at the last minute and helping the Kurds. Otherwise, the situation could have turned into a very ugly war against the Kurdish people.

On further thought it is more complicated than "#Kurds don't owe #America anything". If it was not for the US, ISIS would have taken Erbil, Soleimani and co. may have taken over Bashur and Rojava Kurds would not have had the chance to show that they can administer and protect a region. BUT - and this is the big BUT: Kurds have never betrayed the US like @POTUS Trump and, in his second term, his equally criminal crony, @USAMBTurkiye Tom Barrack, have betrayed the Kurds: 1/ in allowing #Soleimani to take #Kirkuk, 2/#Turkey to take towns in north east #Syria, 3/ support Turkey to put a #SunniArab extremist #dictatorship in charge of Syria, and 4/ not back a multi-ethnic autonomous region in Rojava, although in the last betrayal one wonders if it would have been any different if #PYD and #KNC had been more collaborative.
