🫖 🍰 Today, His Majesty The King welcomed over 8,000 guests from across Scotland to the annual Garden Party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh. The Royal Garden Party celebrates those who have made positive contributions to Scottish communities. Guests from the Highlands to the Borders enjoyed tea, sandwiches and the famous Palace cake while mingling in the historic gardens. His Majesty was joined by other members of the Royal Family as they met representatives from Scottish charities, community organisations, local businesses, and public service workers who continue to make a difference throughout the nation. 🗨️ Queen Camilla chose to wear the Diamond Thistle Brooch for this year’s garden party, making her debut in this symbolic Scottish piece. The thistle has been naturalised as the national emblem of Scotland since author Sir Walter Scott chose it as a sigil for the visit of King George IV to the country in 1882. Indeed, the brooch gestures towards one of the highlights of this year’s #RoyalWeek – the investiture of Queen Camilla to the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle. Not only does Queen Camilla’s Diamond Thistle Brooch represent the history of Scotland, it also holds more personal resonances, having been passed on through generations of royal women.
