Today, we joined our partners at STEM School Highlands Ranch for a 3-mile Remembrance & Resiliency Community Walk as we gathered to honor and remember the tragic events from 7 years ago.
Statement from Sheriff Darren Weekly: “We must never forget the heroes of May 7th, and we must never forget the wounded. Those who were physically and mentally wounded, those wounds will never fully heal. We must continue to support one another, and we must continue to remain STEM Strong.”

Heroes come into our lives in all kinds of ways. Some walk beside us for years, and others leave a legacy that lasts forever.
Six years ago today, our community was forever changed by the tragic events at STEM School Highlands Ranch.
We will never forget the heartbreak of losing Kendrick Castillo. But we also remember the courage and strength shown by the many heroes that day, who will always be part of our family.
