@revanth_anumula @CommissionrGHMC Hyderabad doesn’t lack data, it lacks action. A recent TISS-Hyderabad study says about one-third of GHMC area is in high or very high flood vulnerability zones, with built-up area jumping from roughly 293 to 425 sq km in 23 years. A BITS Pilani-linked analysis warns that over half of buildings are at high flood risk, with future extreme rainfall potentially many times higher by 2040 if current trends continue. Stormwater studies for central Hyderabad using tools like StormCAD, SWMM and HEC-RAS already flag undersized, silted and encroached drains as systemic bottlenecks. So the picture is clear: – Data exists. – Hazard maps exist. – Flood models exist. What is missing is: Public, ward-wise flood mitigation plan Time-bound upgrades to stormwater drains based on these models Strict action on encroachments over nalas and lake buffers Dear @GHMCOnline @HMDA_Gov, this is no longer about “unexpected heavy rains”. It is about documented risk being ignored year after year. If the studies say risk is rising and the streets still flood the same way, the problem isn’t the rain. It’s the response.

Inspired by @Adedamolajoke I am making a stormater art generator rooted in the simulation code Art Generator (highest impact) — It's the most directly useful for diagnostics and communication, and the rendering pipeline (SVG/PNG from #SWMM data) is relatively straightforward.

hermes-agent just got integrated into an agentic stormwater modeling workflow. agentic-swmm handles QA verification, calibration, provenance tracking — the whole thing auditable. from dev agents to civil engineering lol

Good class wisdom you shared - weave those three elements into your SWMM/hydraulic modeling apps: Microinteractions — Small feedback moments that make the app feel alive. In your apps: animate calculation results sliding in, pulse a node when its value changes, show a brief checkmark when an .inp section parses successfully, or add a subtle progress shimmer while a solver runs. Even a smooth hover effect on table rows makes the experience feel crafted. Gamification — Give users a sense of progress and mastery. Ideas for your tools: a completion tracker showing how many .inp sections are filled out, a “model health” score that rises as continuity errors drop, streak counters for daily calibration runs, or unlockable “advanced mode” tabs that appear after the user completes basic workflows. Your RDII Rosetta Stone app could show a progress bar across the 12 RTK parameters. Emotional design — Make users feel something. Use color shifts from red→yellow→green as model results improve, celebrate a successful validation run with a brief confetti burst or satisfying sound, show encouraging micro-copy (“Continuity error under 1% — nice work”), and use personality in empty states (“No nodes yet — drop an .inp file to get started”).
You don’t have a growth problem… you have a retention problem. I hosted a UX session at @ns on designing experiences people actually stay for. We’re in an era where anyone can ship.
But not everyone is thinking about how their product feels to use. The small things like microinteractions, gamification and emotional design are what keep users coming back. Anyone can launch.
Designing something people stay for is the edge. Be honest. What’s one product you keep coming back to and why?👇🏽

A #KIMI app to explain this 🚨 SWMM5 engineers learning EPANET: The roughness direction is INVERTED. • SWMM: Higher n = rougher pipe • EPANET: Higher C = smoother pipe Same physics. Opposite scales. 💥 I wrote about why this happens, showed the actual SWMM5 source code, and built a bidirectional converter. 🔗 r4pon7jazpyhw.ok.kimi.link #HydraulicModeling #SWMM5 #EPANET #CivilEngineering #ManningEquation #HazenWilliams
