at this point they should just do away with signalling and adopt "line-of-sight" safeworking 😭

#HealthAndSafety isn’t a poster on a wall. It’s routines, training, and standards that are understood and followed long after the induction’s finished. Most of it never makes the social feeds — and that’s exactly how it should be.  #SafetyCulture #WorkplaceWelfare #SafeWorking

60 hour shuts were the longest I saw doing safeworking jobs. But thats said they can have shorter 8-12 hour posessions on certain times, like they were doing Saturday night for the Bunbury st tunnel renewal.

Today's historic pic: The Cooma-bound Canberra Monaro Express formed of a 7-car DEB set headed by power car PF908 with PF901 at rear, slows for a safeworking stop at Royalla, NSW, December 12 1985. Just 4 weeks after this photo, power car 908 was destroyed by fire near Dombarton.

2hrs to go 100km on a near-gunbarrel track (with staff-and-ticket safeworking, no less), truly the work of the devil here.

Thanks for getting in touch. We're currently working through safeworking procedures to have your train return to Eaglemont. On arrival at Eaglemont, a train replacement bus service will take you onwards towards Heidelberg/Eltham. Apologies for the disruption to your journey.

In contrast, the Glenbrook rail accident which killed 7 and injured 50, after a severe overspeed in breach of safeworking rules. There was a Commission of Inquiry (which the driver appeared before). But there were, AFAIK, no charges ever brought, and certainly no jail time

Safeworking. Until the '90s Springhurst was a staffed station to work the crossing loop, hence little cost to be the passenger station. Barnawartha had closed as a staff station earlier, had no staff, no platform road, and the station was derelict. It'd cost money to change now.
