2. These habitats are defined by natural processes - erosion, accretion, grazing pressure & frequency of inundation. A change in topography of just a few cm can completely change the vegetation.

Great to get this flux tower installed - a brilliant addition to our growing number measuring GHGs on saltmarsh. I’m excited to see what happens to CO2 the first time the tide flows back in to the site. Any ideas?

Lovely #saltmarsh plants from @RSPB_Ribble Hesketh Outmarsh. This reserve has over 300ha of restored priority habitat - delivering in spades for #wildlife & #carbon. These were growing on the edge of the creek by the initial breach in the seawall.

3. This magnificent managed realignment site on the Ribble Estuary restored c340ha of #saltmarsh #PriorityHabitat that was "reclaimed" from the estuary in the 1980's.
We now need many more Heskeths.
