you should make a habit of treating the actual music production and the scorewriting side as separate skills! I taught myself to write scores by basically doing transcriptions entirely in musescore and making associations with the notes I was seeing with the midi playback.

So Finale is now dead. For those of you who aren't musicians, it was the main scorewriting program 20 years ago. Soon, you won't be able to authorize the software you bought (always been a problem, TBH). So, instead, you can install Dorico, which has Steinberg's awful machine-breaking DRM. All for a type of program that, like a word processor, hasn't added any features in decades. BUT If you pirated the software, it will continue to work indefinitely with no dongle and no rootkit!
