Next time round in 2018, with the CFP Day going tech wide, ScotlandJS applicants jumped to 400 and at least a third of these proposals were from people from marginalised backgrounds.

The original 6 workshops across Europe in 2016 specifically for ScotlandJS resulted in about 200 applicants with 12% being from marginalised backgrounds.

Connections I made included @rockbot a speaker at @ScotlandJS 2016! When I said "I'd love to speak at a conference sometime!" she offered to chat about it. A few months later I took her up on that offer, she gave me feedback. I submitted 2 abstracts & 1 was accepted@ @CSSConfEU!

I met so many fantastic people - volunteers, speakers, attendees. They formed an inclusive, supportive network that has only expanded over time ❤️

This is interesting. I ran such a workshop for volunteers running @ScotlandCSS and @ScotlandJS several years ago, focusing on scenarios related to conference spaces. I always meant to rewrite the content for the workplace too. Good to hear that there are consultants for this.

This reminds me that I really should get round to writing up the workshop I gave volunteers at ScotlandJS &ScotlandCSS regarding CoC, including role-playing realistic scenarios of issues that might happen so they could think of how they'd deal with situations ahead of time.
