Leo Baekeland got his replacement for shellac as an electric insulation, but recognized it was so much more! A thermosetting polymer like vulcanized rubber, it set the chemical industry on a new path as material science. He also pioneered the role of fillers in plastics.

I actually think there couldn’t be a better match up for Sen Ossoff! He should shellac him! Get out and vote blue, regardless of the odds! Flood those voting booths!
🚨BREAKING: Trump-endorsed Mike Collins, who's known for his hateful social media posts, just won the GOP nomination in Georgia to run against Sen. Jon Ossoff. This is how he built his career: blowing up ballot boxes. Collins has deleted THIS tweet, but the internet is forever.

You do not want to be a girl in a men's public restroom. No, not for that reason. You have to *sit* on the toilet. That's a men's public toilet. There is likely a layer of dried piss on it so thick that may as well be shellac.

Strawman argument. There are thousands of years of difference between them. It's from a medical book. It wasn't available to the common folk and wasn't an ingredient in food. It wasn't part of the diet. It wasn't imported enough to be local, in fact, it wasn't imported cause Greeks believed honey was superior. Everyone knew what shellac was. Too little amount ever reached the Western world. It was in books. It was used in Iberia in the same way as "Tin". Imported enough to be known. Next thing you will tell me, Romans ate Giraffe in their diet, I guess.

I had to look up what it is and it sounds healthier than pouches people are using, and processed in a way that's relatively healthy. Cigarettes contain shellac and other chemicals. Organic tobacco smoked around me wasn't as offensive as regular cigarettes

Maybe it's the same mental health crisis that plagues his father, but his is starting earlier. Don't get me wrong, the hair without the shellac is an improvement, but there's a vacancy in his expression that's troubling.🤔🧐🫤

a working Victrola to play old shellac records can still be had for just a few hundred dollars. It seems insane. But here’s the thing: they made so fucking many of them. 99% are gone. Theyre still not rare

This project originated with a conversation with ChatGPT while I was watching Gold Diggers of 1933 the other day. I generated a few conceptual images and worked with it to come up with a concept for the song. Eventually, I landed on missing love because your face is buried in a screen. I had ChatGPT research Busby Berkeley numbers to understand the form of the songs, and then wrote some lyrics which I brought into @suno. A few generations later I had a song I was happy with. Prompt: 60-second 1930s Hollywood musical revue song, no intro, vocal begins immediately, Sweet 1930s female vocalist, light soprano with gentle vibrato, close harmony chorus girls, mono 78 rpm shellac record sound, soft crackle, foxtrot tempo, lush dance orchestra, muted brass, clarinet, celeste, brushed snare, upright bass, harp flourishes, Romantic novelty torch song with dark irony, like a lost Busby Berkeley number, A glamorous chorus girl sings to the man she has not met yet, longing for love while missing him because she never looks up from the glowing little screen in her hand, Elegant, catchy, bittersweet, innocent on the surface, sinister in the staging Note: Suno did not stick to the 60-second restriction. Probably because the lyrics I provided required a longer song. The final version was edited down from 3:00 to 2:20.
