The developers who will matter most in 5 years are building their own tools right now. Not waiting for the perfect SaaS product. Not paying $49/month for something they could build in a weekend. Not locked into someone else's roadmap. They're shipping small, focused open source tools that solve their own problems — and discovering that other people have the same problem. The pattern repeats constantly: → A developer builds a CLI tool for their own workflow → Posts it on GitHub with a clean README → Hacker News upvotes it → 10,000 stars in a week → The tool becomes infrastructure This has happened with bat, fd, ripgrep, zoxide, Starship, LosslessCut, ShareX, sniffnet — all of them. None of them started as products. All of them started as one person's personal itch. The open source tools you use daily were built by developers who stopped waiting for someone else to build what they needed. The bar has never been lower to build something real: Rust, Go, TypeScript, Python — pick one. Find the tool you wish existed. Build it. Open source it. ossphere.dev What tool do you wish existed but nobody has built yet? Drop it below 👇 #OpenSource #BuildInPublic #IndieHacker #GitHub #SideProject #OSS #DeveloperTools

I built deadline mode in my sideproject: It compares the day the task was added, today, and the remaining days I can procrastinate.

Which model to use in games? it's a sideproject but greate for brainstorming on Harnesses constructions, multi agent interactions etc Also thanks to Fable I overcommed so many blocks engine got much to complex for Opus - not too long or hard as it is extra simple: few jsons, minimal rules, tiny code - but it has to be designed on high abstraction level as it is an engine that governs how llms drive other llms over fictious world that can be anything Codex was so bad in this setting it made no sense to use it for anything Fable is adding mechanisms one over another and still has plenty of intelectual room - fascinating, cant wait for fable 6 ;)

Shipped something this Friday that took me 11 weeks to stop being embarrassed about. Back in March I'd built an automation pipeline for a client — invoicing, follow-ups, contract generation, the lot. Ran it locally. Worked perfectly. Then I moved it to prod and it silently dropped 23% of webhook events for SIX DAYS before anyone noticed. Six days. I only caught it because the client rang me while I was on the Overground between Hackney Central and Dalston, standing in that awkward door area with a cold flat white going nowhere fast. I fixed it. Added proper dead-letter queues, retry logic, Slack alerts the second something goes quiet for more than 4 minutes. -> That failure taught me more than any tutorial -> The fix now runs 340 automations a month without a single drop -> Revenue recovered. Client stayed. I slept again. I'm an avionics engineer by training. I KNOW redundancy matters. And I still shipped something with a single point of failure like a complete muppet. Friday ships aren't always clean. Sometimes the win is just... it doesn't break the same way twice. What's the most embarrassing silent failure you've shipped that nobody noticed until it really mattered? #FridayShip #AIAutomation #BuildInPublic #IndieHacker #DigitalProducts #NoCode #SideProject 51 copy-paste AI workflows for your business. someone on r/SideProject shared 1-year revenue insights. 114 upvotes. everyone celebrating. meanwhile i shipped 9 products across 3 years and never once celebrated an anniversary. lesson: i'm really good at building. really bad at enjoying wins. probably need therapy. (i have an app for that)

I have seen a few people using Fable with Fusion 360 via the Fusion 360 MCP Server and had to try it. I asked Claude to design a 3 tray rack that can be 3d printed and fits 3x Framework 13-inch mainboards. This is a sideproject I have been working on: This is what it came up with after researching dimensions, etc from the framework. This is really impressive. I didn't even come close by myself thus far. I'll see that I can print this soon. Oh of course it also already generated the STL files.
