5. 성분을 어느정도 알 필요는 있음. 단지 이거 나쁜 성분이래!! 한다고 무조건 나쁜 건 아님. 예를들어서 땅콩은 서양인들 중에 알러지를 가진 사람이 많지만 (그래서 땅콩 함유제품은 반드시 표기하게 되어있음) 그렇다고 땅콩이 나쁜 음식은 아니잖아? 단순히 알러지 유발가능성이 높은 성분이라고 해서 자기한테 알러지가 무조건 일어난단 소리는 아님. 알로에 같은 건 알러지가 일어날 확률이 적은 편이지만 그래도 알로에 안맞는 사람들 많이 있어. 그리고 유해물질이라도 함유량이 어느정도냐에 따라 안좋을 수도 있고 멀쩡할 수도 있고 그런거라 미묘함. 유해성 논란이 있는 파라벤만해도 유명제품들은 법적 기준량을 지켜서 넣기 때문에 비교적 안전한 방부제임. 집에서 만든 천연화장품보다 (쉽게 상함) 파라벤이 들어간 시판화장품이 더 안전할 수도 있어. 물론 향료같은 건 되도록 함유 안되어있는 걸 고르는게 좋지. 딱히 별기능도 없고 그냥 팔리기 위해 넣는 거라... 하지만 어쨌든 안좋은 성분은 피할 수 있으면 피하는게 여러모로 안전하고 좋기는 해. 단지 내가 좋다고 느끼는 거랑 실제로 피부에 좋은가는 차이가 좀 있음. 위에도 썼지만 피부가 갑자기 확 좋아진다고 느끼면 위험한 화장품일 가능성이 크다. 안전성에 대해서는 국내 휴대폰 앱인 화해(화장품을 해석하다)를 참고할 수 있고, 성분에 대해 좀 더 자세히 알고싶으면 EWG SkinDeep (영어) 에서 성분별 부작용, 국가별 규제, 논문연구결과 등을 확인할 수 있어. 양쪽 다 화장품들의 성분표기는 참고할 수 있지만 전성분은 잘못 기록된 것들도 많으니 감안하고 봐야해. 대신 자신이 쓰는 화장품의 전성분을 직접 분석할 수 있는 기능을 양쪽 모두 제공하고 있어. 화해의 성분에 대한 설명도 대한피부과의사회에서 발표한 2008년 가이드나 식약청의 자료만 가져왔기 때문에 완벽한 건 아니야. 가장 좋은 건 모르는 성분을 봤을 때는 펍메드 등에서 논문검색을 하는 거긴 하지만 사실상 영어와 이과논문에 익숙하지 않으면 어렵긴 해...
