Discussions are currently underway at the Tender Success Summit in Modderfontein. Speaking during the engagement, DSBD Chief Director: Market Access and Value Chain, Mr Mzwanele Memani, highlighted the importance of supporting small businesses to access international markets through the Department’s export support initiatives. “One aspect we wanted to emphasise in the strategy is to incentivise small businesses to get exposure to markets outside of the country, because we know it’s expensive,” said Memani. He further emphasised the importance of capacity building and readiness, noting that small businesses need the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate pricing, logistics, currencies, and different international markets successfully. The Department of Small Business Development (DSBD), together with its agency SEDFA, participated in the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) MSME Development Workshop held on 07 May 2026 at the Southern Sun Hotel in Cape Town, Western Cape. The workshop formed part of ACSA’s Enterprise and Supplier Development initiatives aimed at strengthening the participation of MSMEs within the aviation sector and integrating them into formal supply chains. Bringing together entrepreneurs, government departments, and strategic partners, the engagement provided valuable insights on corporate compliance, taxation, regulatory requirements, procurement readiness, and access to funding opportunities.
