Do the snow guards' holes need to be pre-drilled? The majority of our polycarbonate pad-style snow guards come with molded starter points. Our self-tapping screws can quickly drill through this material. These guards can, however, be pre-drilled if you'd like, but it's not required. We include pre-drilled holes in the aluminum SnoCleat PBR, SnoCleat 2.67, Snojax I, and stainless steel SnowCatchers. 🔗 Learn more at snoblox-snojax.com #SnoBloxSnojax #SnoBlox #Snojax #SnowGuards #SnoBar #ColorBar #SnowRetention #RoofingIndustry #WinterPrep #SnowLoad #IceDams #RoofAvalanche #SnowGuardInstallation #RoofProtection #MetalRoofing #RoofingTips #SnowGuardExperts #SnowGuardSolutions #SnowGuardSystems #SnowGuardDesign #SnowGuardProducts #SnowGuardEducation #SnowGuardAwareness #HomeSafety #WinterRoofing #SnowGuardFacts

The rails/clamps are supposed to be minimun 1/4 of total length from edhe edge of the panels, theyll work but microcracks and not visible to the naked eye. Strong winds or big snowload will speed of the process of thoose cracks.

Lame. The snow is light and fluffy. If you shovelled you'd know that. and it drifts so accumulation is random and likely not on the roof because of the wind. Now, wet snow with no wind accumulates where it falls and creates weight. That's snowload. The roof is still at risk.

Yep. Good to know who built your home. Some of us had to do 8k hours and 4 years of apprenticeship before we were allowed to lead even framing projects. The building code, snowload tables, where to brace along spans and how to... but whatever, other fuck ups make me money.

I am against flat roofs too. If you want your building to look like it has a flat roof, there are design features that can do it. Also, in NH, it is goes from a flawed concept to a terrible idea. That snowload in the winter...

We have trees like that. It's snowload malformation from when the tree were a sapling.

There were a lot of commercial buildings that had roofs collapse from the snowload. Multiple smaller municipalities had to shut down the water, and thousands of homes and businesses have broken water lines. Time for warmer weather.

Tonight through Thursday afternoon will be below freezing over 60 hrs. A couple of concerns are people who rely on electric for heat with power outages, then roof collapse from the snowload. Also, water outages.

You're doing great work! But, PLEASE be mindful that the design of a structure such as you're set up in won't be able to handle a large wet snowload !!!

I understand your frustration with building codes but if people start building structures without any background/experience in engineering, electricity. There will be many hurt people and fires. Think 40 amp breaker on wrong gauge wire beyond max run. Truss spans beyond snowload

Wherever you are, water conservation will become more and more a consideration. Collection systems ought to become standard practice, really. My biggest concern with hoops and cold frames is snowload. Still remember the tangled aluminum mess from a screenhouse.

This sounds like they are environmentally concerned, nope They are in a drought because of the climate crisis they deny They know by winter snowload, they won't have water for their second industry, beef, because the oil corps own the water rights, but.. globalnews.ca/news/10490110/…

No big deal just a minor miscommunication. Decision was oversized rafters on tight spacing with a ridge beam and collar tie. We have a v high snowload, you can get away with less.
Replying to @rustbeltkid1
All that to say - we're working on a rafter design that meets snowload requirements without going to trusses. I want the headroom, cost savings, and aesthetic that rafters offer but it turns out you can't just tell him "people built barns like this for 200 years"
