Kicking off South African Library Week 2025!!
Nal'ibali joined the City of Cape Town Library Services, literacy organisations, literacy activists and librarians from across the Western Cape in a march through the Cape Town CBD to launch the South African Library Week.
The march aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of using free reading materials available at South African libraries, as well as to encourage people to obtain library cards, in line with the
#salw2025 theme "Libraries for Sustainable Communities," which emphasises libraries' transformative role in fostering community sustainability, resilience, inclusivity, and accessibility.
Nal'ibali sees libraries as doors to knowledge and culture. The resources and services they provide foster learning, promote literacy and education, and help create the fresh ideas and views that are essential to a creative and dynamic society. Increased library access can help to boost literacy and improve living conditions in many South African communities.
