If you are at all interested in strategy games, milsims, and/or spacewar I cannot recommend Nebulous: Fleet Command enough. It's so good. Its only big problem was an absolute cliff of a learning curve and the campaign has fixed that enormously.

Behold! Ancient Space Wars The Siege of Tripura: The Three Orbiting Space Stations Recorded in detail across the Matsya Purana and the Mahabharata, the battle of Tripura (The Three Cities) is the ultimate ancient space-war template. The Asura Technology: Three massive Asura brothers performed extreme cosmic penance to obtain three mobile, planetoid-sized space stations from Brahma. One city was made of iron (stationed on Earth/lower orbit), one of silver (stationed in the mid-space atmosphere), and one of gold (stationed in deep space/heavenly orbit). These cities could fly seamlessly from planet to planet, could not be harmed by normal weapons, and housed millions of Asura soldiers. The Interplanetary Terror: The Asuras weaponized these floating worlds, using them to blockade the planets, block out starlight, and rain down destructive kinetic energy on the worlds of the Devas. The Space Battle: The Devas could not fight them individually. To destroy Tripura, Shiva constructed a supreme celestial weapon—a space-combat vehicle crafted from the elemental forces of the universe. The gods waited for a rare astronomical alignment when the three orbiting Asura space stations lined up in a single path across the cosmos. Shiva fired a single, reality-shattering cosmic arrow (Pashupatastra) that pierced through all three stations simultaneously, triggering a chain-reaction explosion that vaporized the Asura citadels in the deep void. #ancientaliens, #Spacewar, #Alienwar, #Godsatwar

[reuters 3]

Upright arcade Pong (1971) and its earlier sister, predates a lot of these, as does Spacewar! (1961), though the latter being the firse widely released vido game, was not an arcade release or home use.

In 1969, video games were not commercial products and were mostly experimental programs running on massive, expensive university or research mainframes. The most notable titles included early simulations like Space Travel and Lunar Lander, as well as the iconic Spacewar!

What Keeps Me Coming Back to SpaceWar-X There are many blockchain games that promise rewards. Very few manage to keep players engaged over time. That is what I find interesting about SpaceWar-X on the Cronos ecosystem. At first glance, it looks like a space combat game where players upgrade ships, earn resources, and compete against others. But after spending time in the game, I realized that progression is what makes the experience different. Every battle contributes to a larger goal. You are constantly working toward better ships, stronger equipment, new upgrades, and higher rankings. The feeling of progression creates a reason to come back and continue improving. Another aspect I appreciate is the competitive side of the game. Leaderboards, tournaments, special events, and community competitions add an extra layer of motivation. Winning is rewarding, but even climbing the rankings and improving your strategy feels meaningful. The project also continues to evolve. New features, game modes, and updates give players fresh objectives rather than repeating the same activities every day. What I like most is that SpaceWar-X combines several elements that many blockchain games struggle to balance: ✅ Progression ✅ Competition ✅ Community ✅ Long-term goals The result is an experience that feels more like a game with blockchain integration rather than a blockchain product trying to become a game. As the Cronos ecosystem continues to grow, projects like SpaceWar-X show how gaming can help attract new users while keeping existing communities active and engaged. Have you tried SpaceWar-X yet? What is your favorite ship or game mode? @CronosNetwork @CronosApp #CRO #SpaceWarX @Cr00tsNFT

This beautiful machine is the DEC PDP-1, Digital Equipment Corporation’s first computer, shown with the Type 30 display and console typewriter setup. It was a groundbreaking early interactive computer introduced in 1959 that helped shift computing away from pure batch processing and toward graphics, real-time use, and direct human interaction. Fun Fact: The PDP-1 is famously tied to Spacewar!, one of the earliest interactive computer games, which was developed on a PDP-1 in the early 60s. This machine has so much personality. The design is so unique, and I cannot get over it! computerhistory.org/pdp-1/in… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDP-1 #RetroTech #RetroComputing #ComputerHistory

"Spacewar! on the PDP, 1 really started something wild. Hard to imagine debugging back then without modern tools—must've been pure problem, solving instinct."
