🇨🇦 Hensoldt has secured a €10 million contract to supply spare parts for the optronic equipment on the Canadian Armed Forces’ Leopard 2 main battle tanks. @hensoldt The equipment include the PERI R17 A3 commander’s periscope, the ATTICA GL thermal imaging device, the SPECTUS driver’s sight system, the FERO Z 18 rifle scope and the EMES OPO rangefinder.

One aspect in which the IMBT/Panther seems to be better than the Leopard 2A8 are sensors: the IMBT simply has a lot more. It has a driver sight with cameras mounted not only on hull front and rear (like Leo 2A8 with SPECTUS II & III) but also on the hull sides.

Initial Leopards 2A7DNK did not feature frontal sensor of the SPECTUS system, This has since changed, with the sensor located on the UFP.

Leopard 2A7DNK features the same firepower as Leopard 2A7V. It does come with different stowage concept, characterised by different rear turret stowage, completely different stowage on the back of the tank, additional flat box left of engine cover, and a box in place where driver's SPECTUS system is located in 2A7V

2A7V also features hundreds of smaller changes, such as improved stowage (baskets on the turret sides or the boxes on top of the turret, improved navigation systems, SPECTUS sensors both in front and in the back, and additional cooling system located over the tracks.

Leopard 2A7 also introduced Attica thermal imager for commander, a new infantry-tank phone, as well as IFIS command system. Driver has received SPECTUS sensor in the front, however this only happened on later vehicles and wasn't a standard.
