JUST IN: Diversity on Display, 90% Christians, 40% Women Nigeria Unveils Powerful 59-Man Squad for Islamic Solidarity Games 2025 in Saudi Arabia 🇳🇬❤️
In a bold show of diversity and inclusion, the National Sports Commission (NSC) has officially released the list of athletes representing Nigeria at the Islamic Solidarity Games Riyadh 2025, set to take place from November 7–21 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Team Nigeria, comprising 59 athletes, coaches, and officials, will compete across seven sporting disciplines, backed by a strong high-performance support crew of medical personnel, administrators, and technical experts.
The 2025 Games are seen as a crucial step in Nigeria’s long-term sports development plan under the RHINSE Framework, which focuses on sustainable athlete growth and preparation for upcoming global events such as the 2026 Commonwealth Games, 2027 African Games, and the 2028 Olympic Games.
In a historic twist, this year’s contingent reflects Nigeria’s religious and gender inclusivity, with over 90% of the athletes being Christians and more than 40% women — a representation that has sparked pride and conversations about unity through sport.
Nigeria has featured prominently in previous editions of the Games (2017 and 2021) and will now join 57 countries from across the Muslim world and beyond in this year’s Riyadh edition.
The NSC congratulated all selected athletes and officials, urging them to represent the nation with excellence and integrity.
