For me, the centerpiece of Ashuelot River Park in Keene, NH, was the falls over the old mill dam. Any other Laminar Flow enthusiasts out there? The water is not polluted. It's stained yellow by the tannins leaching out of the fallen leaves, captured upstream in the Spring thaw. Wilton, NH, is a charming town at the confluence of the Souhegan River and Stony Brook. Incorporated in 1762, it was known previously as "Salem-Canada" and "Number Two". 🤔 What struck me were the brick buildings downtown, a mix of industrial-era style and classical elegance. Visiting when I did (on a Sunday morning), there were folks buzzing to and from church, as well as to and from the local breakfast spot. With the stroke of 9, the birds flew off the cupola of the Wilton Town Hall and Theater. Landed in Boston, MA! The color saturation charge was a bit jarring, TBH. But the history is deeper. Take the short brick building. Built ~1763, it served as the counting house for John Hancock and is the oldest structure left on Long Wharf. Today, it's the high-end Chart House seafood restaurant.
