Take for example NLE video production systems. Their input consists of complicated video and audio files which can't be effectively tested for all types of content.
This is why such programs often crash. Then you add in the interaction with the operating system.
The complexity of such software is staggeringly large.
Sure you could probably prove and we in fact had to do that back in undergraduate school, that a " hello world" program would correctly function.
But again, that's a trivial case.
