I had a small setback yesterdayโa second fender bender in my half year back in Japan. ๐ No one else was involved; I slowly backed into a small storage box, leaving only a light scrape on the car. Iโll repair it out of pocket, but the moment left me feeling old and vulnerable, surprised that even while being carefulโturning my head, checking both sides, even opening the doorโI still managed to bump into something.
It reminded me how quickly mental sharpness can fade after retiring from a challenging, engaging career. Itโs like stopping exercise: the โmusclesโ of the mind weaken fast. This is another good reason for me to keep working until I can find new ways to stay sharp and keep my brain active.
