What a way to end half term week! Thank you, Billy, Tracy, and Poppy, for inviting me to spend the day at @waterstones_HFD today! I had a super time with all your little bookworms – telling them about my children’s debut; watching them create their own characters, stories, and artwork; and getting up to all manner of fun and mischief with your stretchy caterpillars (under the watchful instructions of your teeny tiny shoppers). There’s something very magical about every Waterstones I’ve visited recently. They’re certainly a slice of heaven for anyone, like me, who loves books! And I was sad to leave today, knowing that my run of bookshop visits for THIS half term is now over. If anyone didn’t make it into Waterstones Hereford today but was hoping to, then you might be pleased to know that the remaining copies of WARNING: Magic Can Be Dangerous! still in there are now all signed, stickered, stamped, and loaded with sticker sheets and bookmarks. And the staff are so knowledgeable about all the incredible books they have in stock. I spent the whole day there with my children’s debut - hosting Storytime followed by activities throughout the day - and had a fabulous time with everyone! What a wonderful way to start the weekend - an author event at @watworcester. Thank you, Maddy, Jess, and the team, for arranging everything and making today so memorable! My very first bookshop event; I still can’t quite believe it!!! I’d love to come back during the October half term… if you’ll have me. And huge thanks to everyone who came along today and joined in with the fun. The children’s section in Waterstones Worcester is beautiful, and perfectly set up for author events. The children were far too clever for their years, though, and wouldn’t believe that magic wasn’t responsible for rotating my giant book prop… or that grown-ups don’t do colouring because they’re simply not allowed to after turning eighteen. The thought of many more children reading my book as they head to bed this evening is giving me the energy boost to stay awake just a little longer before I collapse into bed myself. And I have a funny feeling that some of the parents of those children will also be having a sneaky read, even though the book is NOT SUITABLE FOR PARENTS! With three days off now before I’m out on my travels again to host three more events, I’m going to treat myself to a whole day off tomorrow and get some rest. But if any more @Waterstones stores would like to book me in for a free author event, then please get in touch (or speak to Maddy at Waterstones Worcester).
