@UCBerkeley just gave us another example of how far things have gone.
An event hosted by Berkeley Hillel, featuring Chancellor Rich Lyons and faculty, focused on something simple: faith, belief, and the role of spirituality in academia.
Outside? Protesters from Jewish Voice for Peace.
Signs accusing Zionism of fascism. Claims of genocide. Messaging aimed directly at a Jewish student space.
Not a policy forum. Not a political rally. A campus discussion about God.
This is how environments turn hostile. Not overnight, but through repeated targeting of specific groups until it becomes normalized.
Jewish students don’t need to agree on politics to deserve basic safety and respect on campus. That standard should not be controversial.
So where is the line?
