In yesterday's racing news, English trainers took center stage in New York š“ó §ó ¢ó „ó ®ó §ó æ
Trikari narrowly clinched the Belmont Derby for English-born trainer @GrahamMotion , while Cinderella's Dream made a late but thrilling finish to win the Belmont Oaks for British trainer Charlie Appleby. Adding England's PK win in the Euros, it was indeed a stellar day for the Brits.
Across the pond, City Of Troy fought hard to win the Coral-Eclipse. The colt, heavily favored in a small field, overcame challenging ground conditions. The Derby winner, who had bounced back at Epsom after a lackluster run in the 2000 Guineas, left jockey Ryan Moore a little perplexed. Moore remarked, "I thought he'd beat them by 10 lengths. I wouldn't be surprised if he does that next time." The Breeder's Cup Classic is clearly on the radar!
Saratoga Racecourse is set to open its doors in just four days. The entries are out for the first day of summer racing, featuring an 11-race card. The first post is at PM, with the final race scheduled for PM. Let's hope summer storms don't interfere with the five turf races planned for opening day.
Finally, the USA Racing Club is now accepting new members for the 2024/25 season. Act quickly! Their promising 3-year-old, St James The Great, is set to compete in the $150,000 Kent Stakes at Delaware Park, now rescheduled to Monday due to extreme heat. The National Weather Service had forecasted a heat index of 105Āŗ or higher at Delaware Park yesterday.
Have a fantastic day of racing!
Riders up,
Steve
