I grew up in a family of teachers, and my mom always said every child has a genius, something they do better than anyone else. Problem is, we don’t value all genius the same. We praise surgeons, athletes and some musicians. Writers? Artists? That’s why “starving artist” is a thing. Some of us are verbal Van Goghs, getting it out because it might help, move, or inspire somebody or we are compelled in some way, OCD, right?! Not for likes. And if someone finds it, needs it, shares it (and gives you credit), or buys you a coffee? That counts. Four likes might mean four people really get you or catch your drift. Besides, forty-seven lunch likes might just mean people were hungry.
