Today has been a long one for Dogs on the Street, with a journey all the way to Birmingham, but every mile was worth it. We were able to support a dog whose owner is preparing to enter rehab. Without this support in place, it simply wouldn’t have been possible for them to take that step. Tonight, there’s a sense of relief and hope. The owner can finally access the help they’ve needed for so long, knowing their beloved dog is safe, cared for, and loved. That bond never has to be broken for someone to rebuild their life, and that’s exactly why we do what we do. It’s been a tiring day, but it’s also been a powerful reminder that compassion and practical support can truly change lives, for both people and their dogs. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our work. Together, we’re making second chances possible. dogsonthestreets.org #DogsOnTheStreet #SecondChances #SupportNotSeparation #Hope #DogLovers #RehabSupport

🐾 From the Streets to Stability 🐾 Nearly one year ago, this beautiful soul came into our care. His owner, facing temporary homelessness, was frantic with worry that he’d have to give up his beloved dog. We made a promise to the dog and his human that we would keep him safe. While he struggled with the kennel environment (and oh, did he let us know it!), we pulled out all the stops to reassure him and keep his little world from falling apart. But it was never meant to be permanent. Dogs belong with their people.
So we did what we do best — advocate. Loudly. We told services, “This dog cannot stay in limbo. He’s not coping. If you don’t act, we’ll have no choice but to return him and that means his owner is straight back to square one.”
💥 That pressure worked. 🗝️ Just last week, the pair moved into their own permanent accommodation. A home. Together.
Not only has this pup had training and care in our hands, but now he has his person back and a fresh start. The owner is beyond grateful — and we’re so proud to have helped keep this family together. Because no one should have to choose between a roof and their best friend. 🧡 Good luck Mr M and his owner 🙌🏼 #DogsOnTheStreets #RescueStories #HomelessNotHopeless #AnimalAdvocacy #ReunitedAndItFeelsSoGood #DogRescueLove #SupportNotSeparation

Not just done by the rich, but also the powerful & those in authority. If you’re not supporting struggling birth families financially & practically as you do your employees of fostering agencies, you’re part of the problem. #SupportNotSeparation #ChildTrafficking #ChangeTheLaw

To the UK Government and Prime Minister, You say “If you want to live in the UK, you should speak English.” But this very narrative is already being weaponised in family courts and contact centres against foreign mothers who report domestic abuse, coercion, or sexual abuse. I can guarantee that after just a few years at a contact centre — where all communication is strictly in English — a bilingual child loses their mother tongue entirely. These mothers are closely monitored, and if they slip — even a single leading question in English about a dog the child grew up with — it's reported to the court. The consequence? More therapy forced on the mother to “change her views on her ex.” The result? She stays under monitoring. And on top of it all, the court issues a barring order — further punishing her for trying to protect her child. This isn’t just bias. It’s cultural erasure, institutional cruelty, and systemic injustice. Is no one in government ashamed of what’s happening in family courts and NACCC-run contact centres? Because we are. This is institutional cruelty. It’s cultural erasure. It’s a human rights violation. @CommonsJustice @MoJGovUK @UKLabour @ChildrensComm @WomenEqualities @Keir_Starmer @NACCCofficial @MyCafcass @jessphillips @NACCCnews – are you OK with this? 📢 Time to #EndCourtInjustice #FamilyCourtCrisis #ProtectMothers #ProtectChildren #DomesticAbuse #CoerciveControl #HumanRights #BilingualRights #CulturalHeritage #UNCRC #JusticeForChildren #SupportNotSeparation @SheraFamily @hansummers @louisetickle #justiceforSara
If you want to live in the UK, you should speak English. That’s common sense. So we’re raising English language requirements across every main immigration route.

Protect children by holding professionals accountable — not by punishing parents. In the UK family courts: If a mother reports DV, coercive control, or sexual abuse of her child… She’s mocked, disbelieved, and often loses custody on “hypothetical” grounds. Disclosing abuse? That’s enough for the court to accuse you of harm — not the abuser. 👉 Disclose abuse? You risk losing custody on hypothetical claims of emotional harm or alienation. This is the cruel reality of the family court system: – Secretive, closed, unaccountable – Judges override experts - Regulated or not, too many family court 'experts' ignore evidence and enable harm – Cafcass ignores risk – Social workers fail to protect – Solicitors often silence mothers -Contact centres — many run by charities — charge £100 per hour just for a mother to see her own child. 📢 Try to complain — even with evidence — and you’ll be ignored, discredited, or punished. This isn’t justice. This is an institutional betrayal of women and children. #FamilyCourtCrisis #ProtectChildren @SheraFamily @DrProudman @hansummers @louisetickle @RupertLowe10 @jessphillips @MyCafcass @NACCCofficial #JusticeForMothers #DomesticAbuse #CoerciveControl #SupportNotSeparation #StopTheSilencing

Just my opinion: Watching this video that was posted on Instagram of an animal rights group taking a homeless man's puppy has deeply saddened me. While it's Important to rescue animals from abusive situations, it's equally crucial to consider all options before taking a pet away, especially from families who simply lack knowledge or resources in pet parenting. Not every situation requires separation; sometimes, education and support can make a difference. Let's not forget the value of keeping pets with their families when it's safe to do so. It's Also important we as animal rights activists consider the separation anxiety and trauma the dog will go through for the step we take!. Exactly 💯 some children are not safe with their parents, however that doesn't mean these children should be wrenched from EVERYONE #supportnotseparation is definitely what we need for a lot of cases I feel. It's just easier to take them away, put them with STRANGERS......
