#UPDATE Tragic Shooting in Tremonton Leaves Two Officers Dead, Deputy and K9 Injured Tremonton, UT – A devastating incident unfolded on August 17, 2025, at approximately 9:02 PM, when the Box Elder Communication Center received multiple 911 hangup calls from a residence near 700 N. 200 E. in Tremonton, Utah. What began as a response to a reported domestic disturbance turned deadly, claiming the lives of two Tremonton Garland Police Department (TGPD) officers and leaving a Box Elder County Sheriff’s deputy and his police service dog injured. According to authorities, a TGPD officer arrived at the scene and was speaking with an occupant of the home when a male suspect emerged, armed with a firearm. The suspect opened fire, fatally striking the officer. A second TGPD officer, who had arrived to assist, was also shot and killed by the suspect. A third officer, a deputy from the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene and came under fire as the suspect shot at his vehicle, injuring both the deputy and his police service dog. The deputy and K9 were evacuated to a hospital and a specialty veterinary clinic, respectively, where both are reported to be in fair condition and recovering. Bystanders were able to convince the suspect to drop his weapon, and he was subsequently taken into custody by additional responding officers. Due to the severity of the incident and uncertainty about further threats, SWAT teams were deployed to clear the residence and ensure public safety. The suspect has been booked into the Box Elder County Jail on charges of aggravated murder, with the Weber County Attorney’s Office leading the ongoing homicide investigation. Gratitude has been expressed for the swift and coordinated response from agencies across Box Elder, Weber, and Cache Counties. The investigation remains active, and further details will be released as they become available.
