UCT is proud to have been announced as host for the Times Higher Education (THE) World Academic Summit 2026 – the first-ever to be held in Africa.
In a landmark partnership, UCT will co-host the summit with the University of Bristol from 29 September to 1 October 2026.
The summit, under the theme “Knowledge, justice and futures: Universities in the age of intelligence,” will bring together leaders in higher education, research, policy, business and civil society to explore how universities can shape a fairer, more sustainable and future-ready world.
In addition to being announced as the 2026 host partner, UCT also celebrates a global ranking of 164th out of 2 191 universities in the THE World University Rankings 2025, placing it in the top 7.5% globally — a rise from 180th — and reaffirming its position as Africa’s top university.
